Effective October 10, 2026
This is the agreement between you and Margin if you share Margin with your readers and earn from the families who join. If any part of it is unclear, write to us and we’ll tell you plainly what it means.
In these terms, “Margin,” “we” and “us” mean Margin Planner LLC, the company that operates marginplanner.com. “You” means the person who holds the partner account.
You are an independent partner and not an employee of Margin. Nothing here makes you our agent, and you cannot sign anything or make promises on our behalf.
You apply and we read every application ourselves. We are looking for people who already write or talk to homeschool families and who would use Margin themselves. You do not need a large following. A few thousand readers who actually listen to you is worth more to us than a big number.
Nothing is tracked and nothing is owed until we approve you. Until then your application is simply sitting with us, and we will answer you either way.
You earn 25% of every payment a family makes, for their first 12 months.
A family on the monthly plan pays $8, so you earn $2 every month. A family who pays for the whole year pays $80, so you earn $20 at once, and that covers their whole first year.
Every family starts with a 14-day free trial. A free trial earns you nothing. You start earning when a family starts paying.
The twelve months are counted from the day that family’s account is created, and not from the day your link was clicked.
Your link carries a word that belongs only to you. When somebody clicks it, we leave a small note in their browser saying they arrived through you. That note lasts 60 days. If they sign up any time inside those 60 days, the family is yours, even if they leave and come back a week later.
We set that note only when somebody arrives through a partner link. An ordinary visitor to Margin never gets one. The note holds one short word, it cannot identify anybody, and we read it once, at the moment an account is created.
If somebody clears their browser or signs up on a different device, we may not see your word at all. That is the honest limit of how this works everywhere. If you believe a family is yours and they are not showing in your account, write to us and we will look.
We hold each month’s earnings for 30 days before they become available. That is so a refund reverses a line in your account instead of us asking you to send money back.
Once your available balance reaches $15, we pay you in our next monthly run. If you never reach $15, we pay out whatever is sitting there once a year anyway. Your balance never expires and we never take it back.
We pay by PayPal, to whatever address you tell us. You can change it any time from your partner page. If the address you gave us does not work, we will hold your money and tell you.
You handle your own taxes on what you earn, and we do not withhold anything. If we pay you $2,000 or more in a calendar year, United States law asks us to report it, and we will ask you for a W-9 before we pay you any further.
If a family cancels, their payments stop and so does your share of them. You keep everything they already paid for.
If we refund a month, that month is removed from your account. Nothing is owed on money we gave back.
Tell your readers you earn a commission. The Federal Trade Commission requires it, and we would want it anyway. A plain sentence is enough. “I earn a commission if you sign up through my link” does the job.
We would rather you undersell us than promise something we do not do. If you are not sure whether Margin does a thing, ask us and we will tell you straight.
That includes accounts for your own family, and accounts you make on somebody else’s behalf.
Searching for “Margin planner” should find us, not a partner’s ad.
Anything you send has to go to people who asked to hear from you.
You can leave whenever you want and we will pay out whatever you have earned. We can end a partnership too, and if we do, we will say why and pay you what you are owed. The only time we would hold money back is if it came from breaking the rules above.
If we change these terms, we will email you before the change takes effect. Anything you have already earned is earned under the terms that were in place at the time.
Write to us through the contact page. A real person reads every message, and questions about your balance or a family you think is missing are exactly the kind we want.
