Read your month

The month grid is the first thing Margin shows you. Every lesson sits on its day in that child's color, and the corner of each day says how many minutes it holds.

The steps

  1. Press The Year tab. The month you are in opens by itself.
  2. Use ‹ and › beside the month name to go back a month or forward one.
  3. Read a day from top to bottom. Each line is one lesson, tinted in that child's color, with a colored edge down the left.
  4. The letter in front of a lesson is the child. Margin uses just enough of her name to tell her from her brother.
  5. The number in the top corner of a day is the minutes of work on it.

Read your month. No sound. The words are on the screen.

What to know

Days are shaded against your own average, so a darker day is heavier than a normal day in your house and a paler one is lighter. The shade does not mean you are behind.
Today has a line around it. A day you have taken off is grayed out and carries the reason you typed. A field trip day turns green and says counts when there is no bookwork on it.
A day with more than four lessons on it says how many more are hiding. Open the day to see all of them.

On a phone

A phone opens on the list instead of the grid, because a lesson name needs more room than a seventh of a phone screen. Press Month to get the grid, where each lesson is a dot in that child's color.
