Set a reading pace

Give a book a start, a finish and a chapter count, and Margin works out how many chapters a week it takes and puts them on the calendar.

The steps

  1. On the Books tab, open the book with Add a book or with edit.
  2. Under Reading schedule, set the Start date.
  3. Set Finish by.
  4. Type how many Chapters the book has.
  5. Read the pace Margin shows underneath, week by week.
  6. Press + Add book or Save changes.

Set a reading pace. No sound. The words are on the screen.

What to know

All three boxes are needed. Two dates with no chapter count, or a chapter count with no dates, leaves the book sitting on the list, and Margin says so rather than guessing.
The early weeks take the odd chapters, so the pace eases off instead of piling up against your finish date.
A book you give dates to halfway through the year starts its weekly checks this week. The weeks behind you count as read, so it is not behind on the first day you add it.
A paced book also prints. It rides along the top of each week in the month packet with that week's chapters on it.
